TOPSoccer, which is the acronym for "The Opportunity to Play Soccer", is a program that enables youth with disabilities to experience "The Beautiful Game". The Program is designed to bring learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl who has a mental or physical disability.
The TOPSoccer program completed its third season this last October. We had over 45 players and 75 volunteers. The award ceremony was held and players received medals and a drink donated by Jamba Juice. Please join the fun this spring as we start our fourth season of this very rewarding program sponsored by the Edmond Soccer Club

A Special THANKS to Blender's Cafe!
The TOPSoccer players and coaches will gather for their last session and award ceremony on Sunday, October 29. The season included 6 sessions, one of which was sponsored by Energy at Taft stadium. A highlight of the award ceremonies are always smoothies. David and Andrea Wilson of Blender's Cafe have once again provided the whole team with their healthy fruit smoothies. We would like to recognize their contribution and suggest supporting them with your business when possible. Blender’s Cafe location is 1200 West Covell across from Cheyenne Middle School.
On October 15, over 125 TOPSoccer buddy coaches and players met at Taft Stadium for a session led by Coach Tommy and Coach Dan of the Energy staff. The day included tickets to the game the last home Energy game. Our TOPSoccer players and coaches enjoyed the kid’s zone and of course watching them win 3-1! Thank you coaches, players, and Jason Hawkins for such a special day.

Who will be working with my child?
The TOPSoccer Program Director, Lisa Schritter-Miley, is a certified Special Education and P.E. teacher. She will recruit volunteers to work as “Buddies” to TOPSoccer participants. These “Buddies” are recruited from local schools and colleges.
What will be the format of the sessions?
Each Sunday afternoon session begins with soccer games and skills practice. After a short recess, we will break-out into small-sided games for the balance of the day. Participants will be placed on teams according to skills, not age. The game format will be either 3 versus 3 or 8 versus 8. Modifications to the games will be utilized as necessary.
What do you need from the TOPSoccer families?
A Family member is expected to be present at all games and practices. It is important to prepare your child for this activity by providing adequate water, nutritional needs, and emotional support. Providing up to date and information on your application and as the season progresses, updating the staff with any new information will help us to plan for your player’s needs. Report any concerns promptly to the Program Director. Our endeavor is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
