Coaches and Managers,
This year, as part of the 2017 Turkey Shootout, Edmond Soccer Club is accepting donations of gently used cleats and/or indoor shoes, in all sizes, for Heartbeat for Hope.
Heartbeat for Hope is a non-profit organization, established in 2009 here in Edmond, that partners with Village of Hope orphanage in Ghana, Africa to care for needy, destitute, and abandoned children. Their mission is to nurture needy children in a holistic manner, to provide excellent secondary-level health care services, and to educate students to excel in character, scholarship, service and leadership to return to their communities as adults and transform the world. Heartbeat for Hope provides sponsorships for 16 of the 180 residential children at Village of Hope. http://www.heartbeatforhope.com/
As you can imagine, the children love soccer, especially the boys, but they do not have any of the equipment that we take for granted. A pair of cleats is a luxury most of them will never have. In an effort provide these children with just a little help in playing the game that we all love, we are asking for teams and players to donate their gently used cleats and/or indoor shoes this weekend at Turkey Shootout. For your convenience, there will be a bin set up during team check-in on Friday evening for you to drop off your team’s donations or you may drop your donation off anytime on Saturday and Sunday during the tournament at the Heartbeat for Hope table, which will be set up next to the tournament RV, just south of the north concession stand. Additionally, Aubrie Ross, director of Heartbeat for Hope, will be there at various times during the weekend, if anyone would like to get additional information regarding Heartbeat for Hope.
Thank you, all, for your consideration and support of this wonderful organization.
