We are pleased to announce a new academy game platform for our academy players (U7 – U10). Edmond Soccer Club (ESC), North OKC (NOKC), along with Oklahoma Celtic (Norman), West OKC Soccer, and Midwest City Soccer Club academy programs have collaborated to work on an improved game scheduling, matchups, and learning environment.
The Metro Academy Games (MAG) will create matchups to enhance total player development. Players will be placed in an enjoyable environment with the right amount of challenge in each game. Games (6 -8) will primarily be played on Friday evenings, and teams will play home and away. No standings or scores will be taken or posted, allowing players to play freely and express themselves in a low-pressured environment.
MAG creates a more flexible game schedule to allow for higher attendance and help alleviate scheduling conflicts. MAG will also help with minimizing game breaks in a season and create matchups with varied competition, while also preparing players / parents / teams for what the structure looks like when moving into competitive soccer.
We will still have our “inhouse / friendly” games, where all teams will play on the same day at the same complex; Tulsa Soccer Club (TSC), Blitz, Sporting etc.
We are excited about the spring season and providing the best options for player development at ESC!
We are proud to continue to be a positive change in the Youth Academy Culture alongside the Metro area clubs. The vision of the Metro Academy Games aligns with where we are moving as a club and we could not be more excited to be a part of this direction. I am personally grateful to work alongside of like-minded Academy Directors to build something special for all our members. It is a refreshing new start to something great! – ESC Academy Director Michael Moritz.
