ESC HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB PARTICIPATION PHILOSOPHY

Regarding soccer players who choose to play club Soccer and High School soccer simultaneously, ESC encourages players to make their own individual decisions with respect to achieving the proper balance.  ESC believes it is the player’s responsibility to communicate to their respective coaches about when and how often they can play and practice, allowing adequate time for homework as well as recovery time from strenuous physical activity.  The ESC Board believes that in the best interest of the player’s health & safety, one training session per day is sufficient.  Student athletes must also manage their time to maintain their academic requirements. ESC coaches support this philosophy.  Coaches should consider total training time for each player with consideration to practice, playing, and personal time.  Coaches must balance team goals with individual player goals.  ESC coaches should work with High School coaches to make sure that players who play on more than one team simultaneously have a schedule that is reasonable and safe.
